I Just Shot With The D3X In A Word: WOW!!!
Posted by Vincent Versace
I had the chance to shoot with the D3x this Saturday. I will be up loading images from the shoot I did with Lilan. I really didn’t think I was going to be a fan of this camera to be honest, but after shooting with it I am a convert to why I need a 24MP in my camera arsanal. The resolution and color are astounding. I mean astounding. This is a close-up of this image, which is the JPEG I shot. Not from the .NEF it is also unt messed with. No retouching. No strobes, no special lights, just a a model and a wall at sunset with sunlight refecting off of black ashphalt. FROM A JPEG!?!?!? If you know me at all, you don’t even need to know me well, you know how I feel about that file format. This image is 100iso Adobe RGB Auto White Balance 70-200mmVR lens (VR is off). I’m on a Enduro carbon fiber tripod with a Really right Stuff BH-55 head. No cable release.
Sheesh…… I will post more as I go both here and on Flickr. I’m downloading the update to NX2 to read the raw files and, well the hotel internet is not cooperating. I am floored. Will I give up my D3? No I am a huge fan of being able to shoot at 100iso and not have a care in the world about noise. For what I do when it comes to the street photography I do that is the only way to go. But for nature, landscape flowers and studio portrait….. Yeah well I can see this becoming the go to camera.
What a tool this is, is it for everybody? All I can say is it’s for me.
